Suicide Prevention and Intervention

Students will create a videotaped demonstration of the basic steps of a gatekeeping model for suicide prevention, including basic suicide assessments and discussion with a role-play client to de-escalate and refer for treatment as appropriate. In addition to the video, students will turn in a skills analysis that describes what they did in the video, their assessment of the risk factors and protective factors their client is demonstrating, and how they reached their decision regarding disposition.
